Mr. Eilek and many 8th Graders participated in Mock Presidential Debates on November 1 - 3, 2016.  The 8th Grade Social Science curriculum covers related topics such as the Constitution and the Electoral College.  Each group did an amazing job.

The Press Enterprise sent a reporter to cover the story, It's 'Trump' versus 'Clinton' in this Temecula Middle School Debate.

Congratulations on a job well done!

FAMILIES OF PROMOTING 8th GRADERS: DO YOU KNOW ABOUT TEF SUMMER CLASSES FOR HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMEN?

The transition from middle to high school can be challenging, and the nonprofit Temecula Education Foundation (TEF) wants to help.  For the seventh year, TEF is offering the following summer acceleration and preparatory classes for Grades 9-12.  Classes will be held beginning June 13 on the campus of Temecula Middle School. Registration ends June 1. More info can be found at:  www.temeculaeducationfoundation.orgDeadline to register: June 1.

These fee-based classes are specifically intended for incoming 9th Grade (Freshmen) Students:

·         Algebra I Boot Camp is a two-week, noncredit, preparatory course designed as a review of basic algebraic concepts, including common core. It is intended for the freshman (or any returning student) who needs a better foundation and a review class prior to tackling Algebra I in high school. Includes special emphasis on helping students overcome math anxiety and develop greater confidence.

·         Pre-AP Chemistry Boot Camp is a two-week course designed to supplement studies by the freshman (or any returning student) taking AP Chemistry in high school. In addition to the info posted on the TEF website (brief course description), the most important lessons learned have to do with lab safety and the experience of conducting hands-on experiments. Many students take Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry without taking regular chemistry, therefore lab exposure is very important.  NOTE:  Students enrolled in AP or IB Chemistry in the fall will have summer assignments to complete; the instructor will provide assistance with those, if needed.

·         Spanish I is the introductory class to Spanish. This is a for-credit, fast-paced class and is not for every student. Students must be highly motivated and diligent to successfully complete this accelerated class, which runs June 13 – July 8. Students who want to take 3-4 years of Spanish in high school may find the TEF Summer Class helpful; it will free up space for Spanish 2 or other college requirements in their next-year’s schedule.
