Please contact the Attendance Hotline at (951) 302-5155 or email Lela Teutscher at email@example.com each day of your child's absence with the following information:
- Student's Name and Grade
- Parent's Name
- Date(s) of Absence(s)
- Reason for Absence
It is the student's responsibility to make sure his/her absences are cleared. An uncleared absence is considered a truancy and may result in disciplinary action. Attendance letters, based on the following notification schedule, will keep parents informed about their child's attendance:
- 1st Letter = 8 Absences
- 2nd Letter = 14 Absences
- 3rd Letter = 20+ Absences
Homework may be requested for a student who is ill for three (3) days. Teachers have 24 hours to prepare the request. The work will be available in the office. Students will have two (2) days for every day absent to make up the work.
If you are absent . . .
When a student is absent from school, a parent/guardian is requested to notify the school by note or by phone call. Our 24-hour attendance phone number is 302-5155. If parent/guardian contact is not made, the student's absence will remain uncleared. Uncleared absences may lead to truancy. Notes should include the student's name, grade, date(s) of absences, reasons for absences, and parent or guardian's signature, and a phone number where they can be reached. If you do not clear a student's absence you may receive a phone call from the attendance office asking you to call to verify the absence. All students upon returning to school should ask teachers for make-up work for each day of excused absence.
1. Excused absences are for illness, medical/dental appointments and bereavement.
2. Unexcused absences are those absences with the parent/guardian's knowledge, which are not listed above,
such as family trip, baby-sitting, inclement weather, or court appearance.
3. Truancy is an absence without parent/guardian knowledge or consent.
